The Dodge Durango comes equipped with several fuel-economy configurations. All its powertrain options come standard with the ECO mode that ensures you drive conservatively when in normal road conditions or flat terrains. This system will delay the up and downshift of the 8-speed automatic transmission to manage the fuel consumption of your SUV.
When fitted with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, the Dodge Durango will have an additional fuel-saving technology that utilizes the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to turn on or off half of the engine (four cylinders), depending on the demand from the eight-speed automatic transmission that is mated to this engine. This system ensures only the right amount of fuel is consumed at a time.
The STOP/START features that comes standard with the Dodge Durango will not only reduce emissions, but also save on fuel. When the vehicle is at a halt, especially on heavy traffic, the SUV will turn off the engine. Once you step on the pedal, the vehicle will automatically turn on.
